Vermillion Uses Bio-Rad’s SELDI Technology to Develop the OVA1 Ovarian Cancer Test

Snapshot

In September 2009, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration cleared Vermillion’s OVA1 test as an aid in distinguishing between benign and malignant ovarian tumors. Bio-Rad’s SELDI platform was instrumental in helping Vermillion discover and validate the OVA1...

Bruker and Bio-Rad Laboratories launch the Lucid Proteomics System, which links Bruker's MALDI-TOF/TOF platform with Bio-Rad's SELDI technology to enable researchers to detect a class of proteins and peptides that other technologies have tripped over.

Press Releases

The latest news about the Lucid Proteomics System.

Bio-Rad and Bruker officially announce the launch of the Lucid Proteomics System, the first system to combine top-down and bottom-up proteomics approaches for biomarker discovery.
The FDA approval of an ovarian cancer test, called OVA1, is based on biomarkers discovered and validated using the SELDI platform. OVA1 is an in vitro diagnostic multivariate index assay, and the first FDA-cleared laboratory test that can indicate the likelihood of ovarian cancer with high sensitivity before a biopsy or exploratory surgery. It can also diagnose cancer even in instances where radiological tests fail to indicate malignancy.
Bio-Rad and Bruker announce the launch of the first product of the Lucid Proteomics System. Researchers who currently profile their biomarkers using BioRad’s ProteinChip® array technology can use the Lucid ID Access Pack to complete the biomarker purification process and identify these biomarkers with high confidence.
